arab american association of New York statement on supreme court dapa RULING

The Arab American Association of New York and the Arab American community in New York City express deep disappointment with the Supreme Court 4-4 ruling in US v Texas, the case determining whether President Obama’s 2014 immigration relief programs can go into effect. The injunction on both programs remains in place and the case returns to a conservative judge in Texas and stalls deportation relief and work permits for 5 million undocumented immigrants.

Millions of hard working immigrants will continue to be at risk for deportations and being torn apart from their families. We are tired of our immigrant communities being used as political footballs. Undocumented immigrants have contributed to the vibrancy of our nation and they deserve to be treated with dignity and respect and to live in safety. Today, we join millions of Americans, undocumented families, advocates and allies to send a loud and clear that this fight is not over. We will continue to organize, mobilize, and advocate until all 11 million undocumented immigrants have an earned pathway to citizenship.
