Case management intern
The case management internship provides an excellent opportunity to get hands on experience with a dynamic non-profit working with the Arab immigrant community. The case management intern will be working with our Social Worker who provides social and mental health services to clients. This is an excellent opportunity for individuals interested in pursuing a career in social work, human services, and/or mental health services.
The ideal candidate will be able to compassionately and efficiently handle cases while strengthening and supporting the community. Fluent English and working Arabic is preferred for this position, and a strong desire to empower and support the Arab-American community is required. While students with or getting their Bachelors in Social Work are preferred, all interested in social work are encouraged to apply.
The case management intern is expected to commit at least 21 hours/week of work with the Association; hours and days are somewhat flexible but being available 3 days/week is preferred.
Maintain confidential client database and case work files for individual clients
Interpreting, translating for clients
Assist with completing social service forms and applications such as those for Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP), disability, school and so forth
Make copies of, and file forms for clients
Completing other related tasks as required by social worker
Experience working with immigrant populations
Some experience with NYC services, completing social services paperwork
College Student or graduate
Able to work consistent weekly hours
Ability to commit at least a 3 month cycle
Arabic speakers preferred
