Your contribution of $25 could mean that 2 children will
have the opportunity to explore museums, zoos and other
educational and fun places Brooklyn has to offer during the
Summer Youth Program.
Your contribution of $50 could mean that 3 people are able
to receive assistance accessing needed public beneifts, help
for victims of domestic violence or other social services.
Your contribution of $100 could cover the estimated cost of
2 women participating in our ESL classes for one month,
helping us to continue providing free classes to the
community.
Contributions of any amount are always appreciated. Should
you wish to give a donation for an amount different than
those listed above, please click this button.

Girl's Career Workshops Presenter
Seeking young Arab women professionals to present at one of a series of workshops
designed to expose high school and middle school aged Arab girls to different career
opportunities while providing role models who have similar cultural backgrounds.

Time commitment: 1 Saturday workshop (1.5 hrs)

Park Festival Volunteers
The Bay Ridge Arab American Bazaar (July 13th) is part of the Arab Heritage Week
(July 9th - 16th).  It's a fun family event celebrating Arab culture with performances
including Teen Debke Troupe, Yassir Darwish, the whirling dervish and more,
activities for kids including arts & crafts, henna and face-painting, and vendors selling
Arabic food and goods.  

We are looking for volunteers to help with the planning and organization of the

We will also be looking for volunteers to help the day of the event.  If interested
please complete an application form and e-mail it to arabamericanny@gmail.com.
The following list of volunteer opportunities are only those in which we are actively
looking to fill.  However, we are always looking for more volunteers for a variety of
projects with positions including: Arabic Teacher, ESL Teacher,
Development/Fundraising, Graphic Support, Office Assistant, Special Projects/Events,
Senior Summer Youth Counselor, Junior Summer Youth Counselor, Tech Support,
Translator, Tutor.  Please see the volunteer application form a full list of volunteer
opportunities.  It can be downloaded here.  Please e-mail the completed application to
arabamericanny@gmail.com.  We will contact you when volunteer opportunities you've
expressed interest in become available.  Please note that all volunteers must complete

Development Associate, AmeriCorps*VISTA Member

Job Description:
The Development Associate (as a AmeriCorps*VISTA member), will:
* research grants and funding opportunities
* write grant proposals and develop proposal budgets
* assist Associate Director in preparing funding packets
* work with staff and board members on developing a fundraising plan
* event planning for fundraisers
* develop and enhance materials for fundraising
* work with program staff to submit reports to current funders
* maintain database of donors and donations
* write and send out monthly newsletter
* all applicants should understand that this is an AmeriCorps full-time position.  
Living stipend ("salary") & health insurance are covered directly by AmeriCorps*VISTA

Education Required:
Bachelor (BA, BS, etc.)  Students of Middle Eastern Studies, Non-profit Management or
related field encouraged to apply.

Additional Qualifications:
* Excellent interpersonal skills
* Excellent writing and computer (Microsoft Word, Access, Excel, Powerpoint) skills
* Some experience writing grant proposals preferred
* Some experience managing volunteers preferred
* An interest in Arab and/or immigrant issues
* Ability to multi-task in a busy work environment
