Immigrant Justice Corps Intern
The Immigrant Justice Corps (IJC) internship will be a chance to work with our Legal team here at the Arab American Association. We are looking for a law student that has some experience or interest in Immigration Law or a pre-law college student with a keen interest in Immigration Law to shadow and assist our attorney. We provide assistance with Temporary Protected Status applications, applying for asylum, citizenship applications, and more. The intern will provide administrative assistance including drafting closing statements to clients after cases, conducting follow-ups on case notices, and doing research on asylum cases and new areas of law and immigration.
This internship will require a few hours of availability on Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and/or Fridays.
Arabic is not necessary but some knowledge of the Middle East/Arab World is required.
Assisting our staff attorney with cases including asylum
Assist with drafting closing statements to clients after cases, follow-ups on case notices
Conducting research on asylum cases, immigration, and new areas of law
Make copies of, and file application forms for clients
Maintain confidential client database and case work files for all individual clients
Arabic is preferable, some knowledge of the Middle East/Arab world is required
Must be very organized
Law Student or college student interested in immigration law
Able to work at least 2 days a week (Tuesday, Wednesday. Or Friday)
Ability to commit at least a 3 month cycle
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite
