Somia El-Rowmeim, Program Manager - Women's Advocacy
Somia joined AAANY as an Adult Education Instructor in April of 2013 utilizing her skills and experience as an educator, heading our ESOL and citizenship classes. She graduated from Sana'a University, Yemen in June 2006 with Bachelors of Education/Major in Physics-Mathematics. She also has an Administrative Assistant Certificate & Accounting Program Certificate from Kingsborough Community College, a Teacher Assistant Certification from New York State, and a Secretary and Computer Diploma from Space Town Center for Computer & Language. Currently, Somia is our Women’s Advocacy Program Manager where she develops and facilitates workshops in: community organization and know your rights for women. In addition to her work with women in the Arab community, Somia represents AAANY and coordinates with coalitions and organizations like: NYIC, New York coalition for Adult Literacy, NY 11 Town Hall, and the Mayoral Candidates forum.
