Linda Sarsour, Acting Director

Linda Sarsour is a Palestinian Muslim American, born and raised in Brooklyn, NY.  
She was the second staff member of AAANY and has been with the organization
since its opening.  Linda was a 2005 CORO New American Leader Fellow, and a
2007 chosen participant for the New York-Hamburg IntergrationXchange
Program.  Previously, she was a family support counselor and acted as a
community liason for Lutheran Family Health Centers in southwest Brooklyn.  
Linda is an active member of the Network of Arab American Professionals NY
Chapter.  She is currently the Coordinator of Community Initiatives for the
YWCA of Brooklyn and is serving as the Acting Director of AAANY.  Post 9/11,
Linda kept the lack of services for Arabs and Muslims at the forefront of
community and public discussion.  She has been featured in the NY Times, NY 1,
Daily News, Leon Charney Report, Tyra Banks Show, Aramica Newspaper,
Boston Globe and numerous other mainstream and ethnic media.  Her strengths
lie in the areas of community development, immigrant rights advocacy, interfaith
and women's empowerment.

Raja Althaibani, Caseworker/Community Outreach Coordinator

Raja Althaibani is serving as a Caseworker/ Community Outreach
Coordinator. She is currently attending John Jay College of Criminal
Justice.  She is a Yemeni- American born and raised in Brooklyn, New
York. During her first visit to Yemen at the age of 20, she had the
privilege of working along side some of the top Human Rights defense
lawyers in the Middle East while working at (NGO) HOOD Organization.

Christopher Rominger, Development Associate

Chris was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York, and is a member of
AmeriCorps VISTA.  He is serving as our Development Associate,
writing grants and carrying out fund-raising campaigns.  He is 22 years
old and graduated in May 2008 from Middlebury College as a History
major, studying modern Middle Eastern history as well as Arabic.  He is
excited to be working in Bay Ridge for the year, and looks forward to
what will be a great learning experience.

Sayaf Rami, Youth/Outreach Coordinator

Sayaf Rami is serving as our Youth/Outreach Coordinator.  He is 18
years old and is in his first year of college.  In addition to working at
AAANY, he is also a Debkah dancer with Yallah Youth for Arts.
Matthew Lonergan is serving as our Adult Education Coordinator.  He is a
recent college graduate who studied political science and not-profit studies at
Rhode Island College.  He is very interested in Middle Eastern politics and
culture.  Mat spent last summer in Jordan working with the Amman Center for
Human Rights Studies.  Matt is new to New York City and is very excited about
spending a year in Brooklyn.

Lamese Bader serves AAANY as the Associate Director, and is also
currently pursuing a Master's degree in International Affairs at the New
School University, having graduated from Hunter College in 2005.  She
is a 25 year-old native of Brooklyn, and a Muslim of
Palestinian-Lebanese descent.  As Associate Director, she coordinates
everything from staff supervision and program development to
community outreach and tracking finances - and she has high
expectations for AAANY in the near future.
