Summer Youth Organizer 

The Arab American Association of New York (AAANY) is looking for a full-time "Summer Youth Organizer" position for the summer. The position will primarily work with staff to: 

A) Facilitate workshops and mentor youth in our Youth Racial Justice Program focusing on education and community organizing 

B) Help to facilitate Brooklynat: A Young Women's Organizing Program, focused on skill building, women issues and activism 

C) Assist with planning for the Muslim Organizing Summit including supporting conference steering committee with logistics, note taking and follow up. 

Job Responsibilities: 

  • Manage timesheets and evaluations for youth members 
  • Promote AAANY's advocacy work on social media and print promotional materials 
  • Support AAANY's campaigns which include civic engagement, police accountability and immigrant rights 
  • Conduct outreach activities in the community 
  • Mobilize youth and community members around advocacy actions such as voter registration, get-out-the-vote activities, etc 
  • Attend staff meetings 
  • Complete work plans and reports in a timely fashion 
  • Other tasks as assigned 


  • Must be a registered college student 
  • Experience in community organizing or working with youth 
  • Ability to engage youth, build and manage teams 
  • Commitment to social justice and the empowerment of communities of color 
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher, Access, and Wordpress) 
  • Logistical event planning experience preferred 
  • Bilingual English/Arabic/Urdu/Spanish preferred 

Salary & Hours:

This is a full-time paid internship position for 35 hours a week. $600/week for a 10 week period.
